The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) at KTMUN provides a platform for delegates to deliberate on some of the most pressing issues of human rights violations across the globe. Established to protect and promote fundamental freedoms, the UNHRC challenges participants to step into the role of diplomats, engage in meaningful debates, and create resolutions that reflect both empathy and pragmatism.
Delegates in this council will confront difficult questions: How can nations balance sovereignty with human rights? How can international law ensure accountability? What role should global cooperation play in addressing crises?
Through negotiation, critical thinking, and diplomacy, participants will not only sharpen their debating skills but also develop a deeper understanding of justice, equality, and human dignity.
A zugzwang breaker, Shouvonik Bose entered the halls of MUNs in 2018. From his first MUN, where he won the "Best Newcomer" award, to chairing international MUNs, the exponential growth of his MUN journey is matched only by his love for argumentative debates and heated discussions about anything and everything under the sun. A firm believer in logic, facts, and diverse opinions, he relishes playing the devil’s advocate—pushing others to their wit’s end simply because he enjoys guiding opposing views toward consensus.
Rest assured, with him at the helm of UNHRC, diplomacy will thrive, seasoned delegates will rediscover their spark, and newcomers will grow like saplings.
